Summertime Pt 1

Whew! I've had a ton of computer issues including Johnny the Destroyer dumping a glass of water on my macbook (don't worry, it survived). I think I finally have everything figured out & a dry, functioning macbook to update you guys!

We have had a BUSY summer!! So busy that it will take a few posts to get you caught up. :) Johnny is continuing to grow like a weed... I pulled 18 mo clothes out of the attic yesterday. All of his 12 mo stuff is too short!! He also got both of his front two teeth (on the same day) last week. That brings the total up to 4 now. His smiles are ridiculously cute. =) He also sits up & crawls & thinks anything Doug does is hilarious.

He has grown up so fast, I'm left wondering where all the time went? He is almost 8 months old!! We have had such a fun summer... Days filled with play dates to the park, the zoo, hanging out with cousins & hiking. So without further ado, here are some pictures from this summer! (All the ones from hiking & Tdad are on Doug's computer, so I'll do a part 2 with those... So don't feel left out Mojicas!)

We had a trip planned to the zoo for Kristin's bday. Turns out her kids were sick, but we decided to go anyway (I had been promising Storrie all summer!) with Rachel & Ruby. We had such a good time!

All I could think of when I saw this snake was in Harry Potter where the glass disappears... totally freaked me out:

Ok, so now skip forward a month or so. :) We went to Cripple Creek to ride the train for Fisher's bday (Day 4 of Fisherpalooza, which I'm sure Kristin will tell you all about that). The train goes from Cripple Creek to a ghost town called Anaconda (4 miles from Victor). There are old mines that line the route... Most of the mines produced $3+ million worth of gold before being completely tapped (what the heck do you call a mine where nothing of value is left??).

My Little Inch Worm

I have a TON of pictures to share with you... I have had technical difficulties lately & we wound up having to get a new memory card reader. I am all set to go with uploading the pics now, but it is going to take some time to sift through 1 month + of stuff. So I thought I would show you a video from this morning. This little kid gets around now. We are in so much trouble...

How Do You Like These Apples??

Wait, what?? I know what you're thinking.... It hasn't been a month & Johnny couldn't possibly be in the next size clothes.... So what is Carly doing writing another blog update?? That right, folks. I'm on top of it this week!

I figured it would be easier to just write quick updates more frequently than spend 2 or 3 hours writing one major one! So here we go...

We've had a pretty fun week! Saturday we all went hiking at Red Rock Canyon. It was a gorgeous day. I had gone to a pretty intense yoga class the night before & felt like my legs were going to fall off the whole time... but it was still lots of fun!

Johnny slept for most of the hike. He woke up at the end:

Sunday we had Kristin & James, Adrienne & Dave & kids over. We grilled out veggie burgers & made homemade peach ice cream! But I was too busy hosting to remember the camera. Gah! Oh well... Next time.

Sunday night I made brownies. Real brownies. You know, the good ones. With dairy, sugar, gluten AND chocolate! Johnny was up ALL night crying & whining. I thought it was the chocolate & in an oh-so-tired fit of exhaustion made Doug take them to work Monday morning & give them away! By 10 that morning Johnny was still screaming & then I saw this:

That's right people! Tooth #2 poking its way through. Once I realized it was a tooth, I gave him some of those homeopathic teething tablets & he was good to go. But alas, the brownies were gone. :( So I made double peanut butter cookies (peanut butter dough with peanut butter chips) last night to make up for it!

**I might add that I recently purchased a fabulously beautiful Kitchenaid Mixer. I think this may be an unfortunate development for the waistlines of everyone in my household!**

My big, little baby

Ok so I'm a really bad blogger. I admit. I can think of a million excuses as to why updating this blog takes me so long, but I'll spare you. :) Basically we've been having a lot of fun & any spare time I have during nap time is devoted to cleaning the house or crafting!

Seems like each time I find the time to update this thing, Johnny has gone up a size in clothes. I bought him 12 mo shorts this week!! When he went for his 4 month check up last month he was in the 90 percentile for weight, 75th for height. He's a BIG kid. He weighed right around 17 lbs then & I know he's much bigger now. That kid just grows like a weed. A real cute weed:

We have had so much fun the past few months. The hustle & bustle of work seems like a distant memory. :) I have about a bazillion pictures to share... so bear with me!

We had a birthday party at our house for my friend, Adrienne, at the end of May. I've been keeping her little girl, Storrie, a few days a week - so you will see her as a regular on the blog.

I overheard Ruby telling Storrie that her hands were cold... So Storrie told her she could put her hands in the pocket of her hoodie. How SWEET!

Piper tries to eat pretty much anything... She would draw a little on the chalkboard, eat a little chalk, draw a little, taste the chalk. I think she gets that from Bella?

It was such a fun party... we have such great friends! It was pretty wild with kids running around everywhere. I think I described it the next day to mom as a "raging party". It's pretty funny as to how that definition has changed over the years.... I think I was in bed by 9:30 that night. LOL.

Can you tell Doug dressed Johnny on this day? Stripes & plaid with knee socks. Awe.some. That outfit made my astigmatism do funny things...

Walking to the park with Storrie. She is such a big help with Johnny! I told Adrienne & Dave that I decided Johnny needed to be 9 before we had anymore kids. It's definitely easier when she is around.

One of the challenges I've had is trying to figure out how to lug this big ole baby around... Here I am trying out Kristin's pack.

It worked pretty well so I got Colleen's old pack that she used for Garrett. He likes it because he can see what's going on.

I was babysitting Fisher & Piper a few weeks ago & had a pretty interesting time. About 2 seconds after Kristin walked out of the door, Johnny started screaming bloody murder. And he is NOT a fussy baby. I tried everything & nothing made him happy. I thought maybe his stomach hurt? I'll spare you the gory details of what all we tried to do in order to help his tummy. When I finally got him home... he bit on my finger & sure enough a tooth had broken through!! I thought teething came when they were older but apparently it can start around now. So Johnny officially has his first tooth. I'll try to take a picture, but it's kinda tricky.

Fisher was a really big help that day because Johnny was "freaking out". Here he is feeding Piper her bottle. So sweet!

Aaaand I guess the apple didn't fall far from the tree. Already trying to drink Red Rocket! Johnny had a death grip on Doug's beer & was totally trying to drink it.

Every time Piper went down the slide, it looked like she stuck her finger in a light socket. So of course we made her go down about 50 times so we could take pictures & giggle.

I just love the look of pure joy on their faces! LOVE these kids!
